This course is the first unit in the Level 2 C&G certificate in Bookbinding. You will learn how to make casebound leather books in quarter and half leather, and how to pare leather and sharpen knives. Some bookbinding experience is necessary.

This 2-hour introduction-to-bookbinding course held at Tedworth House gives interested people a taste of the basics of bookbinding and enables them to make a small notebook during the session. 10.00am to midday in the Avon room.

For complete beginners, this is the first unit in the Level 1 C&G certificate in Bookbinding, where you will gain a core knowledge of the basic skills and make single and multi-section bindings in quarter, half and full cloth.

This course is the second unit in the Level 2 C&G certificate in Bookbinding. You will learn how to make a range of non-adhesive bindings, including a Coptic binding.  For those with a little bookbinding experience.

When rebinding old books it will often be necessary to repair sections or tears. During this two-day course you will learn to make simple paper repairs in various ways.

Part of the Storage and Enclosures programme for C&G Level 3, you will learn to make a classic artist's portfolio with three inner flaps and ribbon ties and a lift-off lid/chocolate box. Some bookbinding experience is necessary.

This course will teach you how to sew hand-sewn silk headbands, lace boards onto the sewing tapes/cords of a book and cover a book in full leather by drawing it on. Students should have at least completed the equivalent of Level 2 Bookbinding Unit.
