For complete beginners, this is the first unit in the Level 1 C&G certificate in Bookbinding, where you will gain a core knowledge of the basic skills and make single and multi-section bindings in quarter, half and full cloth.

Part of the Storage and Enclosures programme for C&G Level 3, you will learn to make a classic artist's portfolio with three inner flaps and ribbon ties and a lift-off lid/chocolate box. Some bookbinding experience is necessary.

This course will teach you how to sew hand-sewn silk headbands, lace boards onto the sewing tapes/cords of a book and cover a book in full leather by drawing it on. Students should have at least completed the equivalent of Level 2 Bookbinding Unit.
